Margaret Howarth Kilroy

Margaret Howarth Kilroy, 89, died January 8, 2013 in Savannah surrounded by her family. She was under Hospice care.

Born on March 14, 1923 in Savannah, Mrs. Kilroy was the daughter of John H. and Johanna Heitmann Howarth. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1941. She attended the University of Georgia and Draughn's Business School. She worked as the CETA Coordinator for Savannah Vocational Technical College. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and full-time homemaker who loved art and music.

She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Ascension.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Brandon R. Kilroy, her parents, her sister, Alberta H. Ray and her brother John H. Howarth, Jr.

Mrs. Kilroy is survived by two daughters: Margaret Marty Kilroy of Cartersville, GA and Eleanor Dodie Kilroy Simmons of Savannah. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Stephanie McKeever and her husband Scott of Savannah, Brandon Simmons and his wife Kimberly of Flowery Branch, GA, Patrick Simmons of Savannah, Carolyn Hinely and her husband Josh of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Megan Simmons of Savannah as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 10.

A graveside service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery on Friday, January 11 at 11:00 AM.

Honorary pallbearers are: Patrick Simmons, Brandon Simmons, Scott McKeever, Henry Hank Ray and William Billy Ray.

The family would like to thank the staff at Buckingham South and Hospice Savannah for the loving care given to Mrs. Kilroy during the last years of her life.
